The project is a four unit housing development for students in Pasadena, California. The project revolves around the placement of double height courtyard in each living unit to serve as the axis to the rest of the program.  Each courtyard is placed on the ground level leaving an open skylight above, which serves as natural ventilation and lighting.  The courtyards are meant to be seen as a deliberate design move that connects all the spaces to each other.  Perhaps the biggest move was to turn the vacant lot in front of the site into a park in order to connect the housing units to the street and neighborhood.
